The internet has changed the landscape of practically all facets of life, and musicians promotional strategy is no different. According to Jennifer Netherby of Reuters, Hip-Hop Superstar 50 cent has launched his own social website similar to Myspace.com. The rapper has over 1 Million friends on his Myspace profile, but the Arthor pointed out that if 50 cent leaves Myspace, he will leave those friends behind because he has no control over them. This is one of the reasons why he created his own social networking site, a strategy that most artists are following now-a-days. I think it took him a little too long to realize the power of social networking websites. They are the wave of the future. The social websites setting can apply to many different situations. There is one very important thing that artists who creates their own social website should know, and that is "Try your hardest to run the website as if it is a regular social site." This means that you should disguise your promotional banners and logos, so your members won't see them too much. If they see artist promotional ad too much, they will get upset. This is an actual fact supported by a personal research done by me "RanJa." So, I learned not to do that. Therefore, it is a thin line between too much promotion and too little. An artist also doesn't want to sell him or herself short either! It is similar to cooking a meal--one shouldn't put too much of one ingredient in the pot or else it will spoil the entire meal. I cannot get any more basic than that. So, I hope my fellow artists plan their social site promotional strategy correctly to receive much success! Click here for more...
