I'll Tell You How to Slim Down Quick... Eat Breakfast!by Sean Nalewanyj Some clichs carry more truth than others, and the old saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day is not far from the truth.
Most people believe that skipping breakfast will help them lose weight, but the truth is that this is a misguided notion. Others that are guilty of skipping breakfast use the excuse that they are simply too busy to eat breakfast.
Eating breakfast regularly not only helps you slim down quick but also benefits overall health, and here are some of the reasons why. During sleep, the body is deprived of both food and water. When you wake up, your protein levels are depleted, your blood sugar is low, and your body is dehydrated. Moreover, your metabolism will have considerably reduced.
So, your body actually wakes up in survival mode. Providing the body with the nutrients it needs helps to reverse the damaging processes the body endures while in this survival mode.
Survival mode forces your body to store fat and waste healthy muscle tissue. Eating Breakfast will set your body's metabolic processes into motion. A good breakfast will boost your metabolism, reverse muscle catabolism, restore your blood sugar levels, and hydrate your body.
The longer you operate in survival mode, the harder it will become to effectively activate your body's fat burning processes and methods. You should eat breakfast no later than 30 minutes after waking up. Of course, the sooner you can eat breakfast, the better it is if you want to slim down quick.
Now that you understand how important breakfast is, let's focus on what you should eat for breakfast. It's best not to overly restrict caloric intake at breakfast; the body has already been deprived of nourishment all night long. Staying active all day requires plenty of energy, and your body needs calories as fuel to produce this energy.
Adding 100 to 200 more calories to breakfast, as compared to your other meals, will give you the necessary caloric boost to slim down quick. Simpler carbohydrates such as fresh fruit or low-fat yogurt are quickly absorbed by the body and are ideal foods for breakfast. Simple carbohydrates provide the much required boost to your blood sugar levels in the morning, which are already reduced, but eating them at any other time of the day, can cause an imbalance in them. A high quality, lean protein source should also be included to your breakfast so as to reverse muscle catabolism and help maintain muscle mass. You can find the protein you need in egg whites or whey protein shakes.
Water is the best breakfast beverage. Since you don't drink water when you sleep, when you wake up, you are very dehydrated. It's best to drink 10 to 16 ounces of water as soon as you wake up or with breakfast.
Water is not only healthy for you but also helps your body's fat burning and muscle building processes, which is important if you hope to slim down quick.
