If Kansas expects to win the NCAA championship, they better come with a better effort than they did against Davidson who was pretty much a one man army. That one man was Stephen Curry who finished with 25 points. He hit a 3 pointer late in the game which made the score 59 to 57 Kansas, which became the final score of the game. Curry didnt have one of his better games, but still managed to put up 25 points. Bryant who erupted in the second half hitting three Three Pointers were the only other formidable threat for Davidson, but he was mysteriously taken out of the game by the couch with about 4 minutes left. This move took the spark out of Davidson who was leading.
Davidson was obviously the smaller team and as a result was vulnerable in the Middle, but Kansas wasnt taking advantage of the inside in the first half; they only started doing that late in the second half which almost cost them the game. Davidsons only big man fouled out with 2:20 left in the game. Sasha Kaun for Kansas was the most disruptive against Davidson. He did the important things around the baskets in order to help his team win and as a result, he was named most valuable player along with Stephen Curry for Davidson.
Earlier in the first half, strong defense was being played by both teams, but things got a lot more offensive in the second half. Kansas didnt play particularly well, but one thing they did manage to do was placed strong defensive pressure on Curry, who had to work a little harder for his shots. This harder work affected his shots in the second half when he was missing shots. Kansas will need to come with a better effort for their next game if they expect to advance to the final because the next team that they will tangle with is also a number one seed. Davidson was a number 10-seed and Kansas only beat them by 2 points. Therefore, things arent looking too promising for Kansas.
